JOSTON, November 22.—Edmund Clark Sanford, for 11 years president of Clark College and professor of psychology and education at Clark Unlversity, suddenly was stricken ill in a lunchroom here late today and was dead on arrival at the Relief Hospital. Physiclans there reported that heart trouble was the cause of death. He was born in Oakland, Calif., in 1859. He took his A. B. degree from the University of Califernia and a Ph. D. from Johns Hopkins, the latter in 1888. His first teaching experience was in Oahu College, Honolulu, followed by two years as fellow and instructor at Johns Hopkins. He first joined the faculty of Clark in 1889 and had since continued in the psychology de- partment. He was president of the college from 1909 to 1920.
