Arthur C. Moses, president of the so- clety, presided. The monthly report 'shows that 5,189 persons were ussisted. Of these 7 resulted from failure to meet rela- tives or friends. Inability to speak English brought 24 persons to the Union Station booth. Another 24 were brought in because they had lost their money and tickets. One hundred and ninety-one children who were travel- ing alone were looked after by the organization. There were also 51 peo- ple who were physically disabled and 6 cases of mental trouble. Many of the 12 runaway cases involving chil- dren were caused by the Washington- New York games. They were like- ‘wise cared for by the society. Following the board meeting there was a luncheon, at which Sherrard Ewing, managing director of the Na- tional Association of the Travelers' Ald, and Miss Harriet Anderson, di- rector of field activities, were the guests of honor. The Young Women's Christian As- sociation znd the American Red Cross are among a half dozen organizations doing social service work that throw their facilities to the aid of the So- clety, and through them, according to Mr. Ewing and Miss Anderson, the Travelers'’ Aid Society now reaches and operates in the most remote cor- ners and sections of the United States and Canada. The organization has grown rapidly in European countries, and there are many cases in which travelers from Europe are trans- ferred to American agencies and safeguarded until they reach their destinations.
