[} 2 YOUTHS DIE TOMORROW FOR MURDER OF FARMER Virginia Negroes Robbed Victim and Set Fire to Home. Special Dispatch to The Star. RICHMOND, Va. September 11.— Otto Clear and Frits Lewis, two young colored men, will go to the electric chair in the penitentiary here tomorrow morning for the murder of Thomas Campbell of Caroline County July 30. Mr. Campbell, an aged farmer. liv- ing alone, and believed to have a large sum of money in his home, was attacked at night and beaten and tortured by the youths, who sought to force him to dis vhi kept his money. helplessness. the vi his bed, and the assa and then set fire to the house. Mr. Cambell recovered his senses partially and managed to roll to the window and fall out, where he was found. He lived long enough to give the officers information which identi- fied the men, who were located in a piece of woods several miles away. When arrested they had in their pos. session articles which were identified as having belonged to Mr. Campbell, who died the next day. Clear and Lewis were brought to Richmond, a special term of the court was held and they were indicted, tried and convicted the same day. They pleaded guilty, and were tried by the judge without a jury. Their indictment, trial and sentence con- sumed less than two hours. Kach charged the other with the crime. HYATTSVILLE, Md., September 11. —Hoping to have at least 350 men be- tween 1§ and 45 enlist for the day and march in the parade here, the military and citizens' committees in charge of the national defense test program here tomorrow have estab- lished enlistment booths in Hyatts- ville, Riverdale and Mount Rainer, and enlistments also are being sought by members of the committee. A parade starting at 6:30 p.m. from the local National Guard armory and proceeding to the County World War memorial cross at Bladensburg and a patriotic rally in the armory follow- ing the parade will be the high spots in the local program. BALTIMORE, September 11.—Two doctors, hundreds of miles away, were able to'do with the aid of radio what numbers of others have failed to do at the patient's bedside when Frank Bradley, messman on the United States . Shipping Board steamship Balsam, was cured of hiccoughs after he had suffered two days and was in serious copdition. Burlie P. Perry, wireless operator on the ship, told of the case when the vessel docked her on a trip from Ireland. It was about 1,000 mfles from Cork that Bradley became sick, Berry sald; and at the end of two days was so exhausted that he had to remain in his bunk. With the ship's radio Perry picked up the steamship Presi- dent Harding, a passenger vessel. He told Bradley's symptons, and the case was dlagnosed by the President Rlnlln:l physician as acute gas- ‘I‘Iu physician then prescribed for Bradley. For three days he kept in touch with the President Harding, and Bradley got steadily better. Then the President Harding got out of range, and the ship's physician on the steamship Olympic took the place of the first doctor. In a few more days Bradley was_able to re- sume his duties. Va., September 11.— Ollle Harter, 18, of two Lick Mines, was electrocuted late yesterday on a bridge at Butchersville as the result of accepting a dare from his brother to climb the bridge.
