Special Dispatch to The Star, BALTIMORE, August 9.—Officials of the Third Corps Area headquar- ters here favor the establishment of a permanent Army post at Camp Meade and have made this recom- mendation to Congress. Brig. Gen. Harold B. Fiske, com- mander at the camp, is also said to favor the plan. Camp Meade, in his opinfon, is the best situated spot in this scction of the country for a mili- tary post. Gen. Fiske said it has the best location and most effective size of any camp known to him. “It would, I think, be a wise thing for the Government to decide to use Meade ax a permanent post,” Gen. Fiske said. “It is close to Washing- ton and Baltimore, and the prox- imity of these two cities would be a boom to enlistment. It is likely that a destroyer, now unfit for use, will be sent in pieces to Gardone. D'Annunzio is attached to the destroyer because of some na- val exploit, and it will be embled upon the hill behind the Villa Vit- toriale, certainly presenting an amaz- ing appe The site is ideal for a perma- nent military post. Other advantages noted by them include the strategic location of the camp, allowing a quick mobiliza- tion of troops in a national emer- gency: a suitable climate, nearne: to a network of highways, elimina- tion of expensive nearby posts, and a topography peculiarly adapted for an artillery range. — e The great coffee region of Sao Paulo, Brazil, supplies more than two- thirds of the beverage used morning by the people of Americ BY CHURCH LEAGUERS All Wars Also Condemned and Plea for Race Equality Made in Resolutions. By the Associated Press. CINCINNATI, August 9.—An em- phatic stand against all wars, a pro- test against Defense day plans, and the favoring of equality among all races, was the attitude assumed today by tiie Young People’s Evangelical League, meeting in quadre ference here, which rimously adopted a resolution embodyini these | principles. The resolution relating to the race question read: “The convention takes the stand that the race problem is not receiving the proper treatment at this time.
