Patrick Joseph O'Connell, more than seventy years old, pastor of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church since 1917 and for many years a resi- dent of this city, dled at Providence Hospital yesterday. Requiem high mass will be cele- brated at St. Joseph's Church Thurs- day morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery. , Father (’Connell was born in Woodstock, Va. He received his early education 'in that state and later moved to this city, where he attended school and later went to Baltimore. He was graduated at the St. Charles College, Maryland, and was ordained a priest at St. Mar; Seminary, Bal- timore, about thirty-nine years ago. Prior to becoming pastor of St. Joseph's he had been pastor of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Stephen's Catholic churches, respectively. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society and took an active interest in those or- ganizations. He is said to have been well known for his kindly spirit and was loved by all who knew him.
