D. C. Pastor Recalls Palestine k Visit to Site Rev. Milton B, Lambdin of 3334 Park place northwest, calls attention %o the fact that one of the great Battles of Bible times was fought at Belsan, Palestine, where excavators for the University of Pennsylvania bave just reported the unearthing of 2 sarcophagus with the name Pha- lion, uncle of King Herod, inscribed upon it. Beisap is the Beth-Shean ©of the Old Testament, and Rev. Mr. Lambdin visited the sceme of the ex- cavating only a few months ago. . It was there that King Saul and his three sons were killed in & Struggle between the Israelites and the Philistines, un account of which 8 dramatically told in I Samuel chapter 31. The Biblical narrative says, in part: “Now the Philistines fought againat Tsrael and the men of Isracl u.:!l B fore the Philistines and foll do Slain in Moynt Gilboa. And the Philtstines ‘followsd. hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Phills- tines slew Jonathan and Abinadab and Malchishua, the sons of Saul And the battle went Bore against Saul and the archers overtook him and he was greatly distressed by reason of the archers. PITTSBURGH, Pa., November 30— A valuable collection of drawings by old masiers has been presented to the Carnegie Art Galleries of Car- negle Institute by Mr. and Mrs. Her- bert Dupuy, wealthy residents of Pittsburgh. The collection, the first of its kind in the galleries. is made up of fAfty works, including drawings by Van Dyk Vinci, Rembrandt, Murillo, Sarto, Correggio. Guido Maratta, Beneditto Luti others. The Rembrandt is entitled “Cimmon Nourished by His Daughter” and is a pen and sepla drawing, ceven by eight inches. It shows the interfor of a prison with male and female figures.
