18 Fi s T (o ORY ENFORCEMENT CHANGE PROPOSED Bill Would Create Bureau Di- rectly Under Secretary [ of Treasury. Representative Crampton of Michigan, in an Interview with the President at the White House today, told him of a bill he w oduce at the coming ses- slon of Congress to separate the prohi- bition office f1 the bureau of internal revenue and create it into a bureau un- der the supervision of the Secretary of the Treasury. This change, the Michigan representa- tive told the President, would not only tirely separate and distinct from the ordinary operations of the internal Tevenue office. Although the President was rep- resented as not having committed himself regarding this proposed legls- lation, he Is known to have intimated that he favors some general plan of making a separate bureau of the unit and placing it directly under a cabinet head, Those who saw the President en- thusiastically remarked how well physically he looked and how happy and pleased he appeared. The fact that he is through with his message and that he has recelved much fav- orable comment from his intimates and party leaders who have seen ad- vance coples are known to be a great source of relief and satisfaction to him, Meets With Cnbinet. The President met with his cabinet today just before the noon hour for the regular Friday bi-weekly ses and according to 2 spokesman for him there was no outstanding feature brovght up for discussion other th commenting upon the Presid message which will be sent t &ress next week and the disposal of a number of departmental routine mat- ters.
