Franklin Bell today directed the wage board |to meet Monday, to consider whether increased wages should be granted the per diem laborers and mechanics of the engineer department at this time. There are approximately 2,000 day workers in the engineer department, employed in street, sewer and water work and in the city refuse division. At the present time skilled laborers are paid from $3.68 to $4.16 a day, and unskilled laborers vary from $2.72 to $3.60.
