The ‘small Porto Barros and Del- ta, adjacent to the city of Fiume, to be consigned to Jugoslavia. 2. The Free City of Fiume itself to be annexed outright to the kingdom of Italy. 3. Jugoslavia to be given a corri- dor back to the hinter 4. In compensation Italy would cede the use of the port of Fiume to Jugo- slavia for ninety-nine years. It is notable that prior to the seiz- ture of Corfu Mussolini- already had set a time limit in" a letter to Bel- grade by which the. status of Fiume was to be fixed. Corfu and the other islands were seized and occupied, aft- er which the so-called Fiume ulti- matum expired. Jugoslavs Roused. Had the Jugoslavs answered Mus- solini with a general mobilization Corfu would have been an Adriatic base. now in the control of the Italian army.
