STUNT NIGHT ENDS CIVITAN GATHERING Washington Hosts Entertain Visitors in Finale at Wardman Park. After an active day, during which officers for the year were chosen, the next convention city selected and ceremonies held at the tomb of the unknown soldier, delegates to the third annual convention of the Inter- national Association of Clvitan Clubs ended their conference with a “stunt night” at the Wardman Park Hotel last night. The affair was staged under di- rection of J. Raymond Hoover of the “local organization. The' entcrtainers produced a riety of numbers throwing humorous sidelights on their home club affaics Several musical numbers were also on the program. 2 Honors to Chattanooga. First honors went to the Chalta- nooga club for the presentation of a farce meeting of the club at home quarters. President Will Shepherd presided and brought down the house with several songs. J. J. Wall acted 1s secretary, Guy Landruf spoke for the board of = extensions, Harry Michenor gave a “coon shouter” act and H. M. Senter was the “special representative” to the convention. This is a prophecy of Arthur Murray, director of the southern division, National In- stitute of Social Dancing, who an- nounced that one of the big things that the institute proposes to do at the convention of the organization, which will meet at Asheville, N. C., the week of July 16, would be to check the Egyptian tendency in ball- room dancing and to accept only those features of Tutankhamen's terpischorean art that will be suit- able to modern social dancing. Another alm of the convention will be toward rullng out all unseemly dances. More sanely standardized dances with less steps, will be tiie watchword of the convention, which urges that the public co-operate by sending suggestions. The week of the convention will be designated as “Dance week.” BATHING PARTY HITS WATCHMAN IN HEAD Stones Used by Colored Men in Early Morning Attack.
