Deming, head of the United States civil service system, addressed mem- bers of the Kiwanis Club at their weekly meeting in the Hotel Wash- Mr. Deming sald there was a notice- young applicants to underestimate the necessity of truthful statements, the offenders probably not realizing that there is rechecking. He outlined the vast work con- nected with the system, giving sta- tistics to show that more than 500,- 000 pieces of mail were handled yearly, while approximately 250,000 examinations are held during the same period.
