An -appeal for ‘funds to carry on its work during the summer is being mude, by the Washington Animal Rescue League, which has its head- quarters at 349 Maryland avenue southwest. “At this time our work is many times greater than during the winter months,” the appeal reads. “Many persons leave town without making provision for the little pet, who has been so much company and pleasure through the year. “As a result it is left homeless and soon becomes a stray to find shelter and food for ftseif. ' This being im- possible, it leads a life of untold suf- fering until some one takes pity upon it and sends it to the Rescue League. “Our car {s going all day and until late in the evaming, at this time of year, on these calls, which entails greater expensa The rescue is sup- rorted entirely by dues and dona- tions and from time to time it is necessary to ask for additional funds.
