LANSING, Mich, April 17.—At be- hest of state offictals leading the fight against the Israelite House of David colony at Benton Harbor, the Mich- igan house of representatives last night passed a bill designed to permit the state to seek a receivershin for the Berrien county cult. The bill also prohibits acquisition of property by fraud and the encouragement of teaching of immorality by religious organizations. The bill was sent to the senate to- day and indications were it would be rushed through to passage. Gov. Groesbeck has announced he was ready to sign the blll and thus give it immediate effect. State officlals today were showing interest in a report from Benton H bor to the effect that Frank Wyla. member of the governing board of the House of David, had announced his_opinion that Benjamin Purnell, leader of the colony, had left Michi- gan. Wyland made the statement to the sherift of Berrien county.
