NEW YORK, February 28.—In the penciled scrawlings in a loosely kept | djary and the contents of a number of daintylperfumed envelopes District Attorney Glennon of the Bronx was scarching today for a clue to the identity of the slayer of Frederick Schnelder, wealthy contractor, in his automobile on a lonely Bronx road Monday. Convinced that a jealous woman killed Schneider, the district attorney was checking over the acquantances of the dead raan. In the meantime Mrs. Anna Buzzi, with whom Schnelder had lived for seven years, was held in the Bronx jail under $25,000 bond while the tangle was being unraveled. Had Many Letters. The = pocket dfary, in _which Schneider occasionally scribbled notes of occurrences and the names and | addresses of social and business ac- | Guaintances, and the letters which he received from woman friends, some married, were found In the apart- ment he occupied with Mrs. Buzzi, None of the letters was made public and only one excerpt from the dlary | was revealed. It read: “She threatened to throw hot soup In my face today. * * * T never heard a female use such vile lan- guage.” Contradiets Mra. Busal. Detectives continued checking the several stories that have been given by persons-examined by the authori- tles, among them, Mrs. Buzal, She pleaded complete ignorance of the crime and its cause, and declared that she was not out of her apartment once during the day of the murder. Her story was contradicted by Har- ry Shidrowitz. shop keeper, who sald * he saw Mrs. Buzzi drive past his place between 4:30 and 5 o'clock Monday afternoon. He has known her four- teen years, he said. The woman, he added, was alone. Shootng Olccuerd Affer 5 P.M. Nicholas Fuelner, truck farmer, who found the dead body, said the shoot- ing occurred shortly’ after 5 o'clock. The official records show an ambu- lance was called at 5:34. Mrs. Buzzi said that between 5:05 and 5:25 Schreider was having tea at his apartment. He intended to stay at one of his clubs that evening, she said he told her. The police, who were checking re- ports that Schneider was intent upon returning to his wife, from whom he had been separated since he was named us corespondent by the hus- band of Mrs. Buzzi, when he obtained a divorce. Another rumor was that Schneider intended leaving Mrs. Busai, and that he had arranged for the fur- niture to be moved., Mrs. Bussi Called Jealous. Mrs. Schneider, asserting she and i her husband were not unfriendly, was uuoted as saying there “was some- thing in" these reports. The officials also were interested in the statement of one of Schneider's stenographers, whom he occasionally took driving, that he recently told her that Mrs. Buzzi “raised mortal Cain” and showed flaming jealousy when she learned he entertained other woman friends. LONDON, February 28.—Reports from Tripoli are to the effect that after flerce fighting the Itallans have occupied the town of Misratah, says a dispatch to the Central News from Rome. The dispatch adds that the casual- ties are not known. Telegraphing from Rome, the Times correspondent says that with the capture of Misratah the military op- erations have ended and the whole of Tripoli returns to the possession of Ttaly. Misratah is on the Mediterranean coast 108 miles southeast of the city of Tripoli. The town. which in years Zone by was the starting point for ihe caravans bound for the Fezzan region, is noted for its carpets.
