COTTON HITS NEW LOW, | FOLLOWED BY RALLIES NEW YCRK, August 2C.—An early decline in the cotton market was fol- lowed by rallien toéay, with Decem- ber gelling up from 21.80 to 22.13. This bulge was probably promoted by reports that there were indications of a_tropical disturbance south of Ja- maica moving northwestward. * The market opened barely steady at an advance of two points on May, but generally twelve to twenty-five points lower, with October selling at 21.70 and January at 21.80, or into new low ground for the present move- ment. The decline below the 22-cent level brought in considerable buying, believed to be partly for tradé ac-| count, and partly in the way of ¢ ering for over the week end. This eaused rallles right after the call. but ofterings increased as prices worked above 22 cents for October, and the market eased off to nearly the opening figures, then rallied again on the sibility of a tropfcal storm menac October sold up to 22.02 on the late forenoon advance, and January (o 21.98, or about twenty to thirty-three 'points from the lowest.
