Department Commander Harry F. Patterson made the above appoint- ments at the called meeting of all the delegates held last week. Bulletin and general order No. 1 has been issued from department head- quarters and all members are urged to read it over carefully and comply with the requests therein mentioned. At the special meeting of Astor Tamp, three new recruits were added to its roster and the military rank, freedom, patriotism and humanity, was put on by Commander Willlams and his_officers. Department Com- mander Patterson made an address. Senfor Vice Department Commander James J. Murphy was in command of the department during the absence of Department Commander Harry F. Patterson on furlough. st Department Quartermaster Clarence A. Belknap has returned from Hastings, Nebr., and North Da- kota, where he spent a two-week furiough with his family. and taken up his duties as department Inspector. ‘At a recent crawl of the Militai Order of the Serpents Past Com- mander C. Past Commander John Ford of Dewey Camp was elected business manager of the department band. All business and engagements hereafter will come through him. His address 1s 1918 H street northwest. Past Department Commander Mc- Caffrey as chairman and Commander Fuhn as vice chalrman with their committee are receiving the thanks from all the members and ladies for the splendid manner, attention and care given them on Santiago day. Mattocks, chairman tranaportation, announced that all arrangements for the round- trip to the encampment Were com- leted and the U. S. W. V. special will o aplendidly equipped and carry the very best Pullman service, includ- ing baggage car, dining car, and drawing room compartment and open section sleeping cars. Stops will made for trips to Garden of the Go Pike's Peak region, the world-r fnowned Royal Gorge, Mormon Temple and Tabernacle, Sait Lake City. Sho- shone Canyon, Cody road to Yellow- stone Park.
