EARING GRANTED | ON WHARE ISUE D. C. Commissioners Accede { - to Request of Board of f Trade Directors. A public hearing on the water- fror® question will be held in the near future, if the request of the board of directors of the Washing- * ton Board of Trade Is acted on by the Cominiseicners of the District of Columbia. " The 'request of the di- rectors was sent after the matter = [ i had been discussed at some length Yesterday afternoon at the first fall meeting _of the board. President Thomas Bradley presided. Previous to the meeting the Board of Trade had sent a letter to the Compmissioners asking for informa- tion on the closing of certain water- front privil im use for com- merci~ - : ‘Willing to Hold Hearing. The Cuin.assioners, in reply, stated reasons for the withholding of these privileges, but added that if the board of directors wanted a hearing on the subject it would be granted." The board, in the letter sent yester- day, declared that it did want a hear- ing, but wanted the hearing to be public, so that all persons interested in the situation would be able to state their views. Consideration was also given a let- ter from the Commissioners regard- ing the use of the public streets by venders, in which it was pointed out that controversy had arisen as to whether the venders were given too little or too much freedom of the streets. The matter was referred to the industrial Uiterests committee, William C. Johnson, chairman. New Members Enrolled. They have established a stand- ard all of their own. Whether a String Quartet—a Duet—or Solo is announced, the public is assured of quality pre- sentation, and whether it be a song recital or instrumental num- ber, this institution has both the foresight and hindsight to insure its reputation by offering only artists that no other Photoplay Theater in Washington has equaled. Victor Herbert set our stand- ard. Professor Josef Kardos, celebrated Hungarian pianist, in concert with Miss Marjorie Moody, soloist with Sousa’s Band, augmented by the Famous Rialto Orchestra soloists, constitute the musical treat all this week. The artist (to appear in the near future) will be another gen- uine surprise.
