36 DRIVE STARTED TOAID IMINHGRANTS Hebrew Society - Launches Nation-Wide Campaign to Raise Million. 7 The nation-wide campaign to raise $1.000.000 for the relief of Jewish immigrants was launched today in ashington by members of the He- brew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Soc of America and other Jews. It is the purpose of the society to find new immigration centers for Jews who cannot come to America. In furtherance of - this campaign, there will be mass meetings in every large Jewish community in the United States, and a house-to-house canvass will be inaugurated. The soclety, representing American Jewry in Jewish immigration affairs, is confronted with the task of bring- ing about the reunion of tens of thou- sands of Jewish families separated by the war and finding new immigra- tion centers in addition to receiving, guiding, distributing and American- izing the Jewish immigrants into the United States. The headquarters of the society are at 4 7 Lafayette street. New York city. The society has issued an appeal, part of whieh read “In order to proceed with the work of saving these human beings, and S0 as to be able to carry into effect the plans for its enlarged activ the Hebrew Sheltering and Immi- grant Aid Society of America must have a million dollars.
