THOMAS HARRISON RAINES Member of Legal Force With Alien Property Custodian Victim of Heart Disease. Thomas Harrison Raines, fifty years | 0ld, connected with the legal force of the office of.the custodian of ali property, was found dead in I apartment in the Mansfield, 1730 street, late last night. A physician ‘rom Emergency Hospital responded to a call, examined the body and said life had been extinct several hours. Joroner Nevitt gave a certificate of | death from heart disease. Mr. Raines lived alone in the apart- ment. He had not been seen by riends during the day, and last night | wo policemen entered his room and found his body on the floor. Follow- ing an investigation by the coroner, he remains were removed to an un- lertaking establishment and prepared for burial. The deceased was a native of Mis- | sissippl. He graduated in law and spent some time as instructor in a military academy in the south. Dur- ing the Spanish-American war he served as a captain in the Army and came to this city about twenty years ago. He accepted a position in the patent officc, resigning to take a position in the office of the alien ago and was popular with Mlb residents of this city.
