A well-attended meeting of the Theo- logical Lyceum Society was held on Wed- nesday for the purpose of installing the new officers recently elected. There were addresses from the outgoing officers, which Were answered by the new president, R. E. Ford. The other officers just elected are: Vice president, M. E. Stuart; secretary and treasurer, George H. West. The Alpha Phi held their usual meeting yesterday, at which an able paper, entitled “The Negro as a Soldier,” was read ly G. S. Murray. The librarian is now engaged in catalog- ing a valuable lot of new books, which have just been purchased for the university library. A celebration of Washington's birthaay was held at the university yesterday in the Rankin Memorial Chapel. An enter- taining program had becn prepared, which consisted of patriotic songs and recitations. Catholic University. For the benefit of the professors and lay students mass fs celebrated every mourning at 7:30 o'clock in the Divinity Chapel. A large room on the third floor has heen fitted up for a chemical museum; already 1,5 mineralogical specimens have been re- ceived from friends, and these ure being ticketed and pinced in the cases. Dr. Shanahan will begin next week his course on “Philosophy of Religion.” The Debating Society of the Law School at ils meeting on Tuesday will debate the question: “Is the law incapacitating an in- fant to make contracts except for neces saries, reasonable?” The atfirmative wi be supported by Messrs. Guilfoile and Jack- son, and the negative by Messrs. ‘Twohy and Kennedy. Capt. P Charch Headquarters for the Different States and the Hotel and Boara- ing House Arrangements, The Christian Endeavor convention ts several months away, but the work of or- ganizing the great chorus of four thou- sand voices will be beg.n next weck. The plar has been matured for some time, but from now on to the convention the organ- izing, Grilling and perfecting of the chorus will be pushed vigorously. Every Chris« tan Endeavor Society has selected one of its members as its leader in this work. These leaders, more than seventy in num- ber, form the auxiliary music committee and will have the brunt of the work in forming the great chorus, A choir will be organized in each Christian Endeavor Society. The membership in these choirs wiil not be restricted to Chr.stian Endeav- orers, but will inclde others who are ap- proved by the leaders of the choirs. A per- son not a member of # Christian Endeavor society who desires to join the chorus should apply to the leader of the nearest Christian Endeavor choir.
