Some weeks ago the county commissioners were in- formed that the turnpike company had for the past six months ceased to collect tolls on the road, and this notice given by the president of the turnpike company was regarded as a pre- liminary move on the part of the company to surrendering the charter and turning the road over to the county authorities. As no repairs have been made on a large portion of the road for many months it is now in a bad and danger- ous condition. What action will be taken in the matter by the county commissioners re- mains to be scen, but that something should be speedily done is the general sentiment of those who are c to use the road in getting their crops to market.
