Heartily Welcomed by the Stay-at-Homes— ‘A Parade and Social Session. ‘The Washington Lodge of Elks with Mr. Ed. B. Hay, the exalted grand rnler of the order, returned from their glorious trip to the Louis- ville convention last evening. They were met at the station by the Elks who had been unable to go to Louisville, but who had done the best they could in preparing a handsome reception for their more lucky brethren and especially for Mr. Hay, who was elected at the convention to the highest honor that it is within the power of the order to bestow. Exalted Grand Ruler Hay arrived at the 6th street station about 8 o'clock. The stay-at- home Elks and those who had already returned from Louisville, nearly the whole lodge, in fact, assembled at the station to meet him. The Marine Band furnished the music. Yesterday ‘morn- ing Drs. Harrison and Elliott told her of the se- riousness of her condition and Assistant Dis- trict Attorney Clagett and Mr. Harvey Givens of the attorney's office went to her house this afternoon and took her ante-mortem state- ment. The supposed dying women was very weak, but she could not be made to believe that she would surely die. “If I die,” she would say, “I know it will be from the beating.” Mr. Clagett heard her story, which was that on the night of the affair William Chew, one of the prisoners, and. Henrietta Smith were quar. Feling and she ordered them out. They used bad language, she said, and she attempted to Push Chew out yw said: “—— it, Til go out,” and began talking to Henrietta > iota When she again tried to put him out he choked her and pushed her against u coal-oil barrel. There was no hard hitting and precious little science. First Walter Campbell and Mike Lynch, both ot boxed three tame rounds. Campbell, who has for some time been instrdc- torto the Schnylkill Navy Athletic Club of Philadelphia, was easily the better of the two. In addition to my own case my baby boy, then about five months old, was sufferink with what I sup- ‘posed to be the same disease as mine, to such an extent that his head was coated over with a solid scab, from which there was # constant flow of pus which was sickening to look upon, besides two large tumor-like Kernels on the back of his head. Thanks to your wonderful CUTICURA REMEDIS his scalp is per- fectly well and the kernels have been scattered so that there is only one little place by his Jeft eat and that is healing nicely. Instead of a coating of scabs he has a fine coat of hair, much better than that which was doptroyed by the disease. I would that the whole world of sufferers from skin and blood iseases knew the value of your CUTICURA REME- DIES as Ido. They are worth ten times the price at which they are sold.
