Six thousand children have been furnished with copios. a A Musket From Lafayette. Mrs. N. W. Halstead, vice regent for New Jersey, who is detained at her home by illness, has, by the hands of her cousin, Alexander Porter Morse, donated to the Mount Vernon Kegents’ Association a Charleville musket, one of 500 which was presented by Lafayette to the Continental Congress. ‘This musket was pur- chased by Gen. N. Norris Halstead, who in- tended it to be placed in the Lafayette room at Mount Vernon, and it is now donated to the association for this purpose by his widow. ‘The enforced absence of Mrs. Halstead is greatly regretted by her associates.
