The applicant 1s further required to file a pe- tition “setting forth the name and residence of the applicant, the place where such license is desired, the name of the owner of the premi- | Ses; that the place to be licensed is necessary for the accommodation of the public; that the applicant is the ouly pecuninrily inter- estered in the peste asked to be licensed, and whether the applicant has had a lice: during the preceding license year, or any part of it, which for any cause bas been suspended or revoked. That neither the applicant, vor any person for him, has given or promised to any of the signers of the written permission re- quired by the third paragraph hereof, any re- ward or compensation of any kind or value for such signature, and that the applicant is now and intends to be for the next year an actual resident of the District of Columbia, ‘This pe- tition shall be subscribed and sworn to vy the petitioner.” The second paragraph requires the approval of applications before the opening of new places. RESIDENTS WHOSE CONSENT MUST OBTAINED.
