By referring to the records of Adolf Cluss, the architect, we have made up the following ——- particulars: east and west fronts of the building, Pad 7th street and the court-yard inside the 24) ely, will be 202 feet long; the south front, facing Canal street, and the north- ern outside wall will be 79 feet long. Result of Examination of Candidates for Teach- erships—Congressional Aid to be asked for the Schoole—Compulsory Attendance, Le. A meeting of the Board of School Trustees was held last night at the Franklin School Building, all present except Mr. Stephenson. The Superintendent, Mr. -1. 0. Wilson, was also present. Mr. F. D. Stuart was chosen chairman, and, in the absence of the secretary, Mr. J. C. Proctor acted in his place. RESIGNATIONS OF TEACHERS AND APPLICATIONS FOR TEACHERSHIPS. Mr. McCellan, chairman ef the committee on teachers, submitted the following: — The committee on beg leave to re- port, that in pursuance of @ notice given through the newspapers, they held ‘AN EXAMINATION OF CANDIDATES for teachers, at the second district female ammar school room, on Saturday, the 22d ult. jat one member of the committee and the su- perintendent were present. The room was early filled with applicants, some of whom were uot of the age prescribed by the rules of the board. Among this class were three young ladies who have loon appointed assistant teachers. It was decided to examine them, as well as the sub- assistants, and mong | report the cases of those who should pass. Afl others under eighteen years of age were instructed to retire to the lower room, and all but two of them complied. Those who remained, by their open disregard of the instructions given, Twithdrew after a spirit of insubordination that they cannot hope will commend them to the favor of the board. Each plicant was designated by a number by which alone sh she was known to the examiners, and the envelopes containing t the name were not opened until all the answere had been examined, each marked according to its merits and the award or oe le.
