Dry Goods. Thanksgiving week would naturally bea broken one in the dry goods trade, Our great national festival takes full three entire days of the six devoted to business; bat in reali- ty it takes nearly the whole week. Yet, not- withstanding the holiday, there has been a fair business doing, and, from the present time un- 1ul the Christmas holidays and New Year, there will be more business doing in the fancy and ornomental goods than for some time past, Qui importers have been rather anxtonsly looking forward to this period, and the promising look of financial affairs is every wav favorable to their expectations. Still, No sensible merchant Will hesitate about selling bis goods now at such prices as can be obtamed, even though the margin for profit be a very narrow one. An staple domestics the trades hays been very light for the week, but the stiffening prices of cotton; aud the small stock of shertungs and shirtings in first hands, keep prices firm, while the absence of orders from the West, which were expected at this time, render it pretty cer- tain that there will be an increased demand tor ton goods at the close of the year, andan ad- vance of prices, We have no quotable change of prices to note. In woolen goods of all description there is a uniform absence of liveliness. Sales are stati aud prices without change. «The market for foreign goods does not materi- aily differ from that of domestics; but the sales by auction have been comparatively large, and many ot the importers have been compeled to force off the remnants of mvoices at a heavy loss, to save them-elves from still heavier losses by holding on.—V. ¥.
