It was perhaps natural to expect consider- able effervetcence at the primary meetings of A pew party rising to power, bat we submit to thoughful Republicans that the style of proceedings prevailing at many of the ward meetings is calculated to do injury to the Union cause, and to give great encouragement to their Democratic opponents. In very MAny instances these meetings seem to be en- trely given over to personalities and, childish altercations upon matters of personal interest only, and which should be promptly ruled eut. it is no answer to say thatthe meetings of other political organizations have been quite as turbulent and disorderly. The Republicans of tbis District occupy a peculiar position at this time.
