SERIEUS RIOT AMONG THE COLORED PRo- PLEIN RICHMOND.—A serious riot occurred 1 Richmond yesterday evening. A mob of negroes rescued him, butbe was again arrested. Upon arriving at the upper station-house the negro mob again rescued him, throwing paving-stones ai the police. Captain Jenkins, of the police, two sergeants, and one private were all injured, two of (hem seriousiy, By this time the mob had swelled to nearly a thousand negroes General Schofield sent up a eompany of tne llth repiment, and came himself. He spoke to the mob, commanding them to disperse. but they failed to obey, when the coidiers charged bayonets and drove them away. MARYLAND UoNSTITE TIONAL CONVENTION In this Convention yesterday the committe to whom the subject had been referrea reported the oath to be taken by the members was tht prescribed in the enfraychisement act passed at the last session of the Legislature. The onth wasthen administered to the President of the Convention by Jadge Magruder, and by the President to the other members. A long Gebate took place on the mode in which the Qenvention sbould proceed to the business of Gonstitution-making. One plan proposed the reference of different subjects to aprropri- Ate standing committees: the other ng u the Convention should consider each subject in succession in Committee of the Whole with- out reference to committees.
