SEVENTH WARD RADICAL REPUBLICANS — Last evening, the regular weekly meeting of the Radical Republican Olubd of the Seventh Ward was held at St. Paul's Chapel, (Sth street.) Mr. F. A. Boswell (white) im the clair, and Mr. J. L. N. bowen (colored) secretary. Owing to the melemency of the weather, the attendance was pot jarge, there being about sixty persons present, of which number twel ye or filteen were whi es. Dr. Wm. Boyd, ‘white,) after the minutes bad been read, asked if he understood that the Chair bad ruled taat he was not eligible to serve ar a delegate. The Chair answered that he had so ruled. Dr. Boyd denied that the decision was made as to bis case, but it was madein the case of Mr. Williams. He had come for the purpose of harmonizing, and was disposed to make a compromiee, but be saw no disposition to- Wards peace, but, on the contrary, a disposi- tion to crush bim. He demed that the judges of the registry had any reason to refuse him the right to register, and said there was not 2 lawyer in the District who did net hold the opinion that he was entitled to vote. Mr. C. S, Bates moved to proceed to theelec- tion of a delegate in the place of Dr. Boyd. Dr. Boyd gave notice that he would contest the election. It was suggested that Mr. G. S. Hepburn’s (w bite) name being the next in order of nom- ination, the vote should be taken om his name A motion was made to lay the nomination of Mr. Hepburn on the table; lost. Mr. Jos. T. Wilson (white) moved an amendment ‘he word “expelled” be stricken out, and the word “reprimanded” be substituted there- for. He did not think that members should be expelled: all were wanted. Pannell accepted the amendment. Rg W.J. Walker (colored) said wu2' if the resolution was adopted it sheuld be carried ou', and there was no doubt but personalities had been used. He had doubts whether those tsing them were Radicals. it was not the colored men who had used them, bat their white brethren, many of whom were asking for offices, and Was the desire to get offices which bad can his bad feeling. It seemed to him that many came to the meetings for the purpose of squashing others. The resolution was good, and would tend to improve the morais of the cinb Mr. H.M. Knight (white) remarked that if the resolution was adopted and carried out, the club would lose one haif the members. The vote was taken on the resolution, and it was lost. Mr. T. E. Smithson said that there was some misunderstxnding about the vote, and moved to reconsider; carried. Mr. Myer ssid that if six rebels had just come across the Long Bridge, and it one of them joined the club on the next meeting night, be would, under the resolution, be debarred from stating anything abouthim Every man bad aright, if 80 disposed, to bring charges agsinst another. The Chair remarked that under a resolution all charges now ge to the executive committee. Mr. George H. Newman (colored) remarked that the resolution did net affect the colored people, for (be whites mage the wrangle. Their mames go in the papers, and he felt ashamed of the proceedings as they appeared published. The whites made all this difficulty by Sspiring to office, and they seemed to come to the meetings with bowie-knife in hand Unless someting is done and there is better behavior, the club had better shut up shop. Dr. Boyd said that he believed the resoin- tion to be right and proper, although he had no doubt but that it was aimed at one certain man. [Laughter.) He denied the aspersion, and was in favor of all such resolations, be- cause be did not know of a single member who had knowingly siandered another. and this was soim regard to himself, and he defied by one to say the contrary. There was no- thing in the résolution against wire pulling, and he noticed that the best wire pullers in the ward were in favor of the resolution. He moved am amendment, to refer all such charges to an investigating committee The Chair ruled the motion oat of order, as there is already a resolution on the subject Mr. H. M. Mr. Smail moved the appointment of a com- mittee to recommend snitable persons to the judges of the Supreme Court for appointment a8 commissioners of election; adopted, ana Messrs. Boswell, (white,) A. Brewn, (col- ored,) Knight, (white.) Baker, (white,) and Rev. W. J. Walker, (colored.) were appointed. Mr. Small offered a resolution that the ward ticket be published in the Star and Chroniole. Mr. C.S. Bates thought the resolution was superfluous, and that there need be ne appre- hension felt about the publication. Mr.G.S. Hepburn asked who was to pay ior advertising the candidates? The resolution failed for want of a second. Mr. Small moved that the nominations for Alderman and Councilmen be made at the next meeting, rejected. Mr. Marshall, (colored.) from the committee of thirty on registry, asked to be discharged, Gnd stated that although some of the committes ‘were workers, there were some who were net fit_to be on the committee. Mr. Wilson said that some who were on the committee took no interest in the work. The committee were discharged. Mr. Wilson moved the appointment of a committee of three to select a commitiee of thirty on the election; adopted, and C. Mar. shall, G. H. Newman, aud Wm. White, (all colored.) were appointea. Mr. Small moved that the meeting proceed at once to nominate ward oificers The Chair suggested that it was im potitic, there not being 8 full house. Dr. Boyd said tnat this was not a nominat- ing convention, and that the matter should be left with the delegates, who should hold a meeting and make their choice. Mr. Bowen, as one af the committee, wanted to receive instructions to know the choice of the ward. Mr. Myers asked if it wasto be understood that no man has a right to be a delegate unless he will vote fer Mr. Boswell. The Obair decided, as far as he was con- cerned, the motions to be out of order, and that the delegates should go untrammeled. He a the motions would not be pressed. * Mr. Smali withdrew his motion.
