The bnsi- ness of this branch of the city Post Office is steadily on the increase, and the system con- stantly growing in popularity with the public as they become more familiar with its sim- plicity and entire safety. ——___ Letters DELIVERED aNxv CoLiecTep.— During the month of December the 25 carriers of the Washington City Post Office delivered 99.008 mail letters, 10,902 local letters, and 25,065 newspapers; 62,771 letters were collected by them from tme street boxes. During the guarter ending on the 3ist ult., 294,405 mail letters were detivered, 29,197 local | titers, and “4.525 newspapers.
