Regarding general business condi- tions in Casper, I will make a short concise statement of affairs as 1 really see them..As far as the Cas- per Buick company is concerned Lusiness {s good and {t always has peen good. The sale of 1925 Buicks has increased by a considerable num- per over the sale of the 1924 models and it seems to me that the public has reached the point where they are using business principle in buying cars. I am very enthusiastic about the 1925 auto show and wish to say that the dealers and committees in charge are working in strict har- mony toward the presentation of a bigger and better show than has ever been held in Casper before. The Casper Buick company as well as the other dealers has gone to consider- » expense in bringing in the spe- ‘cial models for the show, but I be e that the expenditure is justi- fied. : More money has been spent on the entertainment this year than in the past and Iam thoroughly convinced that it is of the very highest qual- ity obtainable, This entertainment will continue through the four nights of the shew and will conists of two distinct shows each evening. DURANT-STAR EXHIBIT HERE NOW ASSURED By SPARK PLUG. the present time the Star and Durant are homeless in Casper. ‘This fact, however, aoes not prevent them from displaying their charms to the Casper public, for J. G. Beard, factory representative in charge of this territory for the Durant Motors company, has arranged with the management of the Gladstone hotel % show one of his beauties in the lobby of Casper’s newest hostelry. Mr. Beard arrived in Casper Satur- day morning, with the flush of the Denver auto show still on his cheeks and smilling his same cheery smile to the old time friends he made in Casper while serving time with the Chevrolet Motor company. Just what car Mr. Beard plans to place in the Gladstone lobby in or- der that Casper auto lovers may be- gin to look upon the words Star and Durant as more than mere names, ix still a great secret. Monday ove ig will tell the tale. In Denver the products of the Durant Motor company, created & profound im- pression with their new and unique display and program at the Shirley Savoy hotel. It will work, to the advantage of Casper to receive the attentions of this great compan. with open arms and assist in locat- ir agency here. Competition is the life of trade and the local auto- motive dealers’ association is not averse to welcoming one more into heir brotherhood. Mr. Beard wishes it distinctly known that he is attempting in no y to detract from the regular sper auto show but Is only taking his opportunity to present the Star car to local folks, He merely sug- gests that those visiting the big show under the big top, drop in at his little side show at the Gladstone either before or after completing the object ef their visit to city sections. Within the next month the Star and Durant will undoubtedly be es- tablished in Casper. A little capital and plenty of business ability is all that is required by the company, 80 there is no real good reason why next year’s show should not see Star and Durant as outstanding ex- hibitors and leading members of the Casper Automotive Dealers’ associa- tion. NOISY WHEELS MAY. BE EAUSED BY TIRES: ONE \giey SOLVED. MYSTERY bro 4 er ught a practical new nto a repairshop with the complaint that the front Wheels were noisy, especially on roads which were slightly uneven. A road test showed that a heavy, dull sound {s- sued from the vicinity of the front wheels every time a slight obstruc- tion was encountered. The wheel bearings, steering knuckles, tle rods 4 shackle bolts were tightened so that no perceptible play existed and still the noise remained. After try ing everything that he could think of without results, the mechanic gave up in despair and the car own- ner decided to drive the car and make the best of the annoyance. ‘The noise continued until one of the front tires was changed following a puncture, when the nolse ceased. After the tube had been repaired the same tire was replaced on the ame wheel, when the noise again became an annoyance, proving that wheel with the same result. The tire was of a type having a tread of rubber mounds (oval shaped) running jn straight rows around the tire, and # close inspection disclosed the fact that someofthe rubber lugs or mounds were worn slightly lower than others. This produced a slight uneveness, setting up a vibration Which in some manner was appar- ently magnified by the disc wheels, Ry using a tire with a different type tread, the noise was eliminated.— Am lean, Automobile Digest. Conditions are improved both from. the standpoint of the busi- ness and the dependent industries. This is particularly true of the rub- ber industr engineers and while t e are still great quan- tities of wild rubber sent to the rub- ber mills the greater percentage is from well cultivated and carefully arranged plantations. Wilda’ ubber is that which is taken from the jungles of Africa, the East Indies, South America and other tropical countries by the na- tives who gather it in no particular- ly well organized fashion, This rub ber suply is shipped to the factories in “biscults” and contains many im purities, as the natives are often not particular about the gathering of the product.
