Greenough of Lander, guest of Mrs. P. C, Nicolaysen. SALARIES PAID BY GOUNTY ARE GIVEN SCORING Employe Who Gave Up Position Gives Opinion. Ed Landers, former undersheriff, is dissatisfied with the statement in Friday's Tribune that he refused to go back to his former job because of inadequate salary. “It's not a matter of salary, {t's a matter of principle,” said Mr. Lan- ders in discussing the proposition. “It's an outrage to ask a man to yvork from 12 to 18 hours a day for 100 a month. Those were good wages thirty years ago when the statute setting that salary was pass- ed, but even then the men seldom worked more than ten hours, “It's an even worse outrage to ask girls to work in county offices for $100 a month and to expect them to live comfortably and clothe them- selves decently on that salary. While these salaries may be adequate in Lusk or Gillette, they certaintly are not adequate in Casper. “You don’t improve the situation by trying to pass the buck to the commissioners or the legislators.
