The new, moderately priced Plerce- Arfow car, news of which has been awaited eagerly in motoring circles for several months, has been an- houneed formally by the Pierce-Ar- row Motor Car company. The car is on y in principal cities of the Uni States. The néw model resembles the com- pany's larger car, including the fam- ous Pierce-Arrow fender headlamps. t4s by mo means a small car, for the wheelbase is 130 inches. The price of the seven-passenger touring car at Buffalo is $2,895. The car fulfills the promise of Président Myron EB. Forbes that the Pierce-Arrow company would pro duee an automobile comparable in design, materials and workmanship with the larger Dual-Valve car, but more modest.in size and consequent- ly more moderate in price. “We madé this promise two years ago when became convinced that the demand for such a car was real and widespread,” said President Forbes. “We have been asked innumerable times why Plerce-Arrow did not build such a car in addition to our larger model, Our distributors and dealers come in daily contact with thousands of motorists and likewise have heard the question repeatedly. “It was pointed out that the genius of Plerce-Arrow engineers command- ed. the respect of the foremost engi- neering authorities. We were re mtnded that nowhere else could be found an organization of workmen who had devoted thelr lives to the bullding of quality motor cars. “Why not, we were asked, have these same engineers and these same workmen produce. a Pierce-Arrow, which, because of smaller propor- tions and increased production, could be offered at a more moderate price? “We have done it.” The new car will be known as Pierce-Arrow Series 80. The larg: er dual-valve car, which the com- pany will continue to produce to meet the permanent demand for a car of utmost luxury and refine ment, will retain its present desig- nation, Serles 83. Production of complete line of motor trucks and otor busses will likewise be con- tinued. he new Series 80 features the lat- es@Pierce-Arrow development in six- cylinder engines—a principle that Plerce-Arrow engineers have special ized in since the early days of auto- mobiles. It is sald to be the most flexible and most efficient onan yet deaigned. The bore is 3 inches and the “sFoke, 6. Although: the formula rating for an engine of these dimensions is 29.4 horsepower, the Series 80 power plant actually gen- erates more than 70 horsepower.
