The following clipping taken from the “Washington Star" will be of interest to many Casper as well as state people: “Mrs. John B, Kendrick, wife of the senator from Wyoming, has laid up treasures for the quiet years, and they are many, on a big ranch in the west, in the series of diaries and books of indexed clippings, which she began on coming to Washington first, in 1917. This was in the tumult caused by the decla- ~ yation of war against Germany, and Mre. Kendrick, a stranger to this @ert of excitement, wishing to im- press certain things on her memory, * began to clip the papers and to add @ thread of running comment on the blank pages opposite, and to record such happenings in which she took an active part. The volumes have grown sufficiently to fill Dr. Eliot's five-foot shelf, and if she added the more pretentious which she keeps and the sev- eral volumes of a ‘Line a Day’ it would quadruple the famous. Har- * vard president's allotted space, She has full details of the illustrious visitors of 1917, and what part the legislative braneh and she personal: ly took in their welcome. Thig fs e 2 yaluable social calendar which, if she follows the trend of this genera tion and writes her memoirs, will insure the popularity of the book. She has saved those painful lists of casualties, published daily, which thrilled the nation early in 1918, and * perhaps nowhere can these tokens of American heroism be found in more complete form outside the war department than in Mrs. Kendrick’s scrapbooks. “In her diary proper, which ts an activity entirely apart fror her «llp- ping series, a clever picture of - Washington, day by day, is to be found, and in a ‘Line a Day! the + most important happenings in her = own sphere of activity are recorded. All this Mrs. Kendrick accomplished © for her re: tion and pleasure; and S4n addition she is the business man- age of her husband, looks after his large private correspondence * and, this year, since Mrs. Coolidge = has passed from being the wife of the vice presfdent to the role of first lady, she is the acting presi- dent of the Congressional club and its hostess at the weekly luncheon held in the large salon on the top he senate ‘office building.
