What this county needs is a class of energetic, industrious citizens: from the older states to take advagtage of the many inducements we have to offer them. The public schools of this county receive annually the following sums as interest paid in the school funds, to wit: From County schoo! fund, $12,000.00: From State school fund, 9,941.80 Total. $21,941.80 This large amount is paid each year from these two funds alone. The mining interests of the state - | have been advancing rapidly but are yet in their infancy. The commis- | sioner of mines has just completed his report and it presentsa remarkable | showing. The total output in the state for the past year of coal, lead, ‘zinc and iron at the mines was $10,717,016. In mineral resources it is : doubtful if any state in the Union surpasses Missouri.—Blaek Diamond.
