Offcials said Friday that AAA leaders approved this step for west- ern, north central and southern re- gions, although auditing of benefit claims as well as payments will con- tinue to be done in Washington for the east central and northeast re- gions. AAA spokesmen still were uncertain as to the exact date when payments will be made although they predicted the bulk of benefit checks will go out in December and January. Secretary Wallace, at a recent press conference, said a few checks might be ready by November. Payments this year will be in a lump sum, spokes- men said, contrasting with the for- mer separate checks for wheat, corn- hog, cotton and other AAA commod- ity control programs. Checking up on_ soil-conserving acreage and practices of farmers in the five different regions already is under way, officials said. Fargo, N.
