C. Stone of Minot, arising out of the death of Miss Marguerite Nel- son, 21, last January 26, State’s At- torney H. E. Johnson said today. The prosecutor’s announcement was made following a recess until this afternoon of an inquest into the girl’s death. Dr. Stone had been called by acting coroner C. B. Davis to testify at the inquest and, on the! the advise of counsel, refused to be sworn. Jewell Christianson, 21, of Minot, also has been at liberty under bonds | for several weeks charged with man- slaughter in connection with the! girl’s death. Dr. L. S. Kermott of Minot testi- fied at the inquest this forenoon! that Miss Nelson had told him of} being operated on by Dr. Stone. The money for the operation was furished by young Christianson, Dr: Kermott said the girl had told him. The inquest is expected to be com- pleted late today. ——_—_—_ | Rise of Mouse River | Begins to Slacken Minot, April 12—(AP)—The rise of the Mouse river in Minot, which is now 1.4 feet above flood level, is beginning to slacken, it was de- clared by engineers today. The stream has risen only two-tenths of a foot since yesterday morning. Several miles of earthen dikes which have been built along the river banks are holding back the river waters. Many citizens last night answered a public call for vlunteers to aid in strengthening the embankments. Reappointment of O. Lundquist Confirmed Nomination of Oliver Lundquist for reappointment as postmaster at Bismarck, made several days ago by President Coolidge, was confirmed |‘ by the U. Lundquist’s present four- year term expires April 15, and it is considered likely that the new commission will cover another four- year period, beginning on that date. Mr. Lundquist was assistant post- master here from April, 1913, un- til April, 1924, when he was ap- pointed postmaster. He came here in 1912 as a postal inspector. Major Kunzig Coming to Inspect Troops Major Louis A. Kunzig, regular army officer on duty with the Min- nesota National Guard, will come to Bismarck tonight to make his an- nual, inspection of the quartermas- ters’ detachment and Company A of the North Dakota National guard. Inspection of all the North Dakota units has been in progress since March 26 when Major Kunzig in- spected the headquarters of the sec- ond battalion and Company I. Major Kunzig will inspect the per- sonne!, check the equipment of each company and examine its records. Inspection of the quartermasters’ detachment will be made Friday night and Company A on Monday night.
