BISMARCK DAILY TRIBUNE auO% FIVE AMERICAN LEGION HOLD IMPORTANT MBBTING TONIGHT Will Discuss Plans for Entertain- ing Delegates to First State Convention WILL BE HELD OCTOBER 16 The meeting of the American Leg- ion tonight promises to be the most important that organization has held since it was formed. Plans will be made and committees appointed to arrange the details of the first state eonvention of the Leg- ion which will be held here October 16 and 17, Matters of policy will also be taken up, it is said, that will vit- ally effect every member in the organ- ization. Some of the members are in favor of having a two or three day celebr:-! tion during the meeting of the conver- tion here next month so that amuse- ments will be provided tie 300 or more delegates from the 58 posts in the state and also as an attraction for out of town people to visit the city during these days. Among the suggestions that have ‘been made are a carnival company with all kinds of side shows and other amusements, a big aviation exhibition. with two or more planes, free dances and moving pictures, band concerts, Patriotic speeches by prominent men of the northwest and many other events. Committees appointed tonight, it i= said, will arrange for raising funds to defray the cost of entertainments in the city, to secure entertainment features, baseball games and otler amusements, a publicity committee -and others. ‘Want State Headquarters The Bismarck post of the Legica will make a strong bid for haying the state headquarters of the organization located in, this city and to this| end it is expected that a special committee will be named to communicate with every post in the state asking them to instruct their delegates to the con- vention to- favor Bismarck for this honor. If the (Legion’s tentative plans for holding a three day celebra- tion in this city materialize it is point- ed out that October 15 will be the most appropriate day for holding Bur- leigh county’s homecoming celebra- tion as the members of the American Legion, as well as all other soldiers, sailors and marines in this county will be able to attend the celebration. In connection with the homecoming celebration it is pointed out that other cities in the state either have already held these celebrations or are about to hold them some time this month. Jamestown for instance, is planning to make the event a big holiday and the business men there with the Com- mercial club cooperating have sent out automobiles throughout the county urging the people in this county to be in Jamestown on that day and afso seeing to it that every former service man living in the county is personally requested to attend the celedration.
