His railroad career began in 1899, also with the Chicago Great Western road. .As an official in the engineering department he reduilt part of that system during his three years of service, He was in charge of reconstruction of the Rock land system during the following three years, In 1906, he worked with John 1. Stevens on the Panama canal project, He had charge of the building of the Union depot in St. Paul, and the Great | Northern depot in Minneapolis.
