(Continued on Page 4) PROFIT IN CHICKEN RAISING SAYS “ CHICKEN KING” OF COUNTY Chicken raising has come to be a large factor in the progress of farms in Beltrami county. E. J. Boorbar has a 40 acre tract near the village of Nary and has more than 200 white leghorn laying hens: He is known as the “Chicken King” througout the county. He brings to Bemidji markets between 700 to 1,000 eggs a week. “It pays to raise chickens,” says Mr. Boobar and he submits the fol- lowing figures to prove his claim. The expense for feed and labor for eight weeks from April 1 of this year to June 1 for 200 chickens was for chicken feed $40.28; for labor 81 1-2 hours at 20 cents, $16.26; making the total expense $56.64. The income from eggs sold during the same period was $96.25; the profit for the eight weeks being $39.71.
