(Chief Roadman, the Automobile Club of America). Comyrient, 1922 (New York Bvening World) Press Publishing pany. Ninety per cent. of the people who attend the football games thi fall at New Haven will go by motor, and the question arises “which isthe best ‘way to go." New Haven is 75 miles from New York City, over the most direct route via the Boston Post Road —115 miles from Boston—166 miler from Albany by the way of Pittsfield, Springfield and” Hamford—100 > miles from Newburgh by the way of Beacon, Danbury and Waterbury. The Boston Post Road, between New York and New Haven,,{6 entirely clear, free from construction and in excellent’ condition, excepting through the mal utreet of Portchester, which is, avoided with an excellent detour between Ry and Greenwich, On days of the bir games there is considerable congestion the trunk lines as a great man) we rather late. All along the Post Road there Is a regular procession. At the same time there are a number of roads with not so much congestion and the mile- age is just about the same between New York and New Haven and routes from al) directions are described as follows: To reach the Boston Post Road from Columbus Circle go through Central Park to 110th \Street, elther £0 north on Seventh Avenue to 145th Street, crossing bridge to Mott Ave- nue, or turn right on 110th Street and left into Fifth Avenue at Mount Mor- ris Park, which is the end of Fifth Avenue, turn right and half block -- .,yond turn left into Madjson Avenue, eropsing the 188th Street bridge t: Mott Avgnue, where a left turn ts mude, ~M: Avenue becomes the Grand Cor e at 162d Street and te reach the Loston Post Road turn right inty'Fordiam Road, go through Fordham “Square, jaseing Fordham Station into Pelhara Parkway and fol- low the shore road to New Rochelle. Motorists going to New Haven from Albany and points beyond should go through Eqst Greenbush Center, then oyer the ‘Lebanon Mountain to Pittsfield, then go south through Lenox, Stockbridge, Great Barring- ton and through the beautiful Nauga- tuck Valley to Waterbury, then over Whippany Hill to New Haven. Motorists coming from Boston will find the Shore Road through Provt- dence, Westerly and New London to New Haven in excellent condition; in fact, better than it has been for ten years, and perferable to the route viu Worcester, Sprimgtig@fd and Hartford as there is construction work with considerable delay at Palmer, also at Long Meadow.
