GREENWICH, Conn., July 29.— Two men in a stolen automobile, after a wild cross-country chase in which many shots were fired and a deep pond crossed, were captured by a posse to-day near Cos Cob and turned over to the New York authorities. The prisoners described themselves as Willard Walters, No. 46 Broad Street, Stapleton, N. Y., and Ralph L. Cutter, No. 625 West 134th Street, New York City. The posse took up the chase as soon as the car was sighted. They gained thelr ear and took to the fields. In- yading the property of the Blythe- wood Sanitarium, they soon found themselves in a maze of unfamiliar territory. ‘The posse closed about them on the shore of the big pond and the fugi- tives, seeing no other escape, plunged into the water and swam for the other bank. They were captured as they landed. One of the men and one member of the posse are reported to have been wounded in the exchange of shots. —>—__—_ MRS.
