Incensed because his father had re- proved him for staying out late at night, Emmund Degel, eighteen, of No. 170 Ogden Avenue, Jersey City, early this morning shot his father in the right side according to the police. ‘The father made a complaint against the son who was locked up in the Jersey City Station. The elder man’s wound is not dangerous. Young Degel, according to the story told the police by the father, has been in the habit of remaining out until long after midnight. When the young man returned home early this morn- ing, the father told him to change his habits and one word led to another. Mrs. Degel and their three other chil dren were awakened and went to the room just as the son drew a revolver from his pocket and shot the father in the side. They say that the boy then threw the revolver to one side and went to his room where the police arrested him. Degel was taken to the Jersey City Hospital. they are to be realistic and lifelike and New York is the city from which they must come.” A REPORT FROM CUBA. “The old Havana is fast vanishing, and a modern city has taken its place,” related Holland Ball Judkins of that city, who !s at the Biltmore with Mrs. Judkins, “Old landmarks are being torn down to give way to up to date buildings which meet the demands of the increasing American population, New roads throughout the island offer more and more {n- ducements to motorists. Before long, in fact, Palm Beach will have a worthy rival in the Cuban city." Mr. Judkins sald that the Cuban business man is shrewd, and that he takes great pride in his native land. His economic condition {s improvins moreover, and Mr. Judkins believes that before long he will again be able to maintain his place in the financial world.
