° EAST SIDE MOURNS _ DINNY’ SULLIVAN, BLACKJACK VICTIM Funeral Services Held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral for Old Tammany Figure. ' Ie * About all that 1s Itft of the east side Sullivan clan assembled at old Bt. Patrick's Cathedral in Mott Btreet to-day to attend the funeral services for Dennis Sullivan, brother of Representative “Christie” Sullivan and of the late “Big Florrie’ Sullivan and cousin of the late “Big Tim" Sullivan, Requiem high mass was celebrated by Father John A. Walsh, and Mgr. Kearney sat in the sanctu- ary. Among the mourners were Surro- gate John P. Cohalan, Thomas F. Foley, Thomas F. Rush, Frank J. Goodwin, Magistrate Max Levine and George Simpson and Alderman Morris Graubard and Sidney Scharlin. The widow of the late “Little Tim” Sul- livan also attended. The cast side has changed since the Sullivans were in power, and only the old timers remembered “Dinny” who, in his minor sphere was ax popular and influential as the other Sullivans. Of late years Sullivan lived with his half brother, Harry Perry, the Tammany district leader, at No, 533 Broome Street Two months ago he was found senseless in front of the house, His head was cut, his shoulder dislocated and his pockets were empty. He spent more than a month in Gouver- neur Hospital. Then he returned to the Perry home and soon afterward there was a fire there. Perry's mother was burned to death and Sullivan was carried out weak from injuries and shock. Later he went to Lakewood, N. J., and two weeks ago went to visit his former business partner, ‘‘Paddy'' Shea, at Coney Island. He told his old friends he had a hunch he had come to die. A week ago he had a chill, pneumonia developed, and Monday he died. Forty years ago, in the heydey of John Y. McKane, then political auto- erat of Coney Island, “Dinny'’ was tthe chief ui detectives there. He knew every thief in the metropolitan istrict and was credited with pos- sessing a remarkable facility for re- covering loot obtained by pickpock- ets at Coney Island when the victim happened to be on friendly terms with any of the Sullivan clan. eens ee GERMANY WILL BALK AT GOLD PAYMENTS Reichsbank President Says Mark Would Become Val- ueless After Two Months. Copyright, 1022 (New York Evening World) y Press Publishing Company BERLIN, June 21.—"'German marks haa the bottom knocked from under them by the reparation payments but we are not going to let it go like the Austrian crown," says Acting President Glasenapp of the Reichs- bank. We can continue paying 50,000,000 gold marks monthly for perhaps two months; then we will be forced to cease payments. Otherwise the mark will go to 600 to the dollar, We will not permit the situation to get fo bad, but we will have to tell the Reparation Commission we are un- able to pay further. “J, P. Morgan understands situation and told it in Paris."’ Asked how much Germany could pay, he replied: “I do not dare venture a figure, but I believe Germany can pay the 25,- 000,000,000 marks Mr. Morgan men- tioned."” —— SOVIET CROWDS DEMAND PUNISHMENT OF REBELS Revolutionaries Being Tried on Anniversary of Assassination.
