The conyention rejected a resolu- ion providing for a universal union label to be use by alt trades, instead jof the fifty-one different labels now fin use. CINCINNATI, O., June 16 (Asso- jated Press).—No definite programme laced the American Federation of bor convention here to-day, Prest- dent Samuel Gompers called the roll of committees, but found few ready with reports. The Executive Council held a meet- ing for its last perusal of {ts report on the Supreme Court decision in the eclebrated Coronado coal case, which held labor unions Mable for damages under the Sherman Anti-Trust Law. ‘The council decided to propose no pro- gramme for overcoming the decision, leaving this question for a special policy committee, which is considering @ congressional veto of the court's \ decisions. Members of the council indicated ‘their report complained that in the Yoronado case the court ventured an pinion in ‘fan imaginary case," re- ulting in a blow at the fundamental Mprinciples of labor unions. Further, it was held by the council that the Medecision had nullified the Clayton act provision exempting labor organiza- tions yfrom prosecution under the anti-trust laws, Anyone who believes the political and economic system of Central Rus- sia is better than that of the United States is near the realm of insanity, said Frank R. Voris, representing ‘the Near East Relief, in addressing ithe convention. Friendly relations exist between the ‘Federation and the American Legion, Samuel Gompers, President of the Federation told the convention in an- nouncing that Hanford MacNider, ‘commander of the Legion, would ad- Bress the delegates during the day.
