ee Schooled by a Veteran Pro- ducer, the School’s Boys Will Become Rollicking ‘Show Girls. ‘the “Poly Prep Follies," for which Brooklyn has been waiting for a couple of months, will be given to- hight and to-morrow night at the Acétiemy of Music. The entertain- mejit, which is by far the most am- bitigus ‘show ever given by the boys of the school under the auspices of the! Alumni Association, has been staged and directed by Ned Way- bura, who needs no introduction to wither Broadway or Brookyn as a mroducer. Instend of a wonderful lot of girls Yor the performance, which will be in the nature of a review, Wayburn, for his female characters and his stage beauties, has had the pick of the boys whose physical lines were susceptible of transformation tnto show girls. By clever costuming he has evolved a chorus that would do credit to Broad- Wey and where the size of feet and hands is lost sight of. Poly Prep originally was a part of the» Polytechnic Institute, but it is years has been at Seventh Avenue and, 92d Street, Dyker Heights. Its alumni, which has in excess of 3,000 members, is headed by William Sie- grist jr., Stephen V. Hopkins ts Vice Pregident, Henry Hall, Secretary, and.Dr. M. W. Dalyell and Frederick Hi Werble- mann, AD the scenery, costumes, furniture ‘and: properties for the performance were supplied by Wayburn who de- vised the production. A prologue, termed “The Play Winning Contest,” opens the show. In this class the play- writing is conducted by Prof. Faker, played by Willard B. Kapper. The ‘winners all have their plays produced. Miss. Mazie Cushing, played by Le Roy;P. Earle, is the author of ‘"Temp- tations of Broadway.” In this skit Joha R. Farrar jr. has the leading femt> role, that of Alice Jones, a Broadway Butterfly. “& Pretty Girl Is Like a Melody,” by Irving Berlin, introduces a be’ of pretty “girl Dogs and Deeds, in Which Aldred Oldaker plays Hazel the {Nut, and Samuel P. Bennett is Willy Winn in another number, “Cutie” is sung by Willard B. Kapper and John R. Farrar jr. They are as- sistdd by the Moonshine Girls, sixteen in number, and they are all the label calls for. “Nell the Beautiful Bootlegge' another one of the prize plays pro- duced in the playwriting contest in- trodices Howard P. After a round of ginger ales, Kerri- gan winked at John Puts, the head waiter, and asked, “Have you got it?” Putz is alleged to have brought a half pint bottle for which Kerrigan paid $5. Kerrigan then revealed his shield with the announcement ‘You're under arrest.’? Putz ducked and ran around half a dozen tables with the agent close on his heels, Two hundred and fifty patrons, many of them in evening dress, became excited and scores fear- ing gunplay, fled to the street, Kerri- gan caught Putz in a side-room and took him back to his table.
