: ‘| i TAMMANY SEEKS ~ BIGGER SHARE N ~PORTAUTHORT May Drop Fight on Miller’s, Harbor Proposal if City Can | Name Commissioners. | —— | HAS BILLS DRAFTED.| Will Be Presented To-day But Likely to Be Held Up Till Plan Is Fairly Started, | Staff Correspondent ing World. ALBANY, N. Y., Feb. 2.—Senator | James J. Walker in the Upper House | and Minority Leader Charles D, Don- ohue of the Assembly. to-day intro- duced amendments to the Meyer- Mastick Port Authority Bill, to give to the City, of New York the ap-| pointment of at least two of the| three New York members, The | Board of Estimate would also be em- powered to approve or reject the port authority plan. The first part of the amendment was suggested by former Governor Bmith in his defense of the plan on ‘Tuesday, when he said that the only part of the plan in which he was not in accord with Gov. Miller was the appointment of the New York mem- bers. In his opinion the Board of Fstimate should have the naming of them. (Special from a of The | The Meyer-Mastick Bill is sched- wled for a swift passage through both houses. It is going through as a party measure, though several Demo- cratic members have already declared in its favor. At the moment, with some members of the legislative committees inclined | —= to favor a bill giving the city repre-) sentation on the Authority Commis- sion, Tammany has let its Senators and Assemblymen know they may follow their own inclinations when voting on the pending plan for har- bor development. The action of Walker and Dono- hue in offering their amendments to-day is taken to mean that any, far from siding with Hylan in his demand for flat ion of the Port Authority plan, will line up in support of it if the concessions demanded are granted, It ‘Was even indicated that the Demo- crates would not press for the right of the Hylan Administration to either reject or approve the plan if the ap- pointment of two Commissioners ‘were accorded. While the Republican leaders are not disinclined to “let, Tammany in at some future date,” as one of them expressed it, they do not intend to gramt concessions to the city until the plan has been adopted and put into operation. Once its ultimate estab- ‘ Mshment 4s assured, !t is not unlike- , Wy the city will get representation on ‘the Interstate Commission having the aelection of sites, laying out of routes I.
