PLYMOUTH, Mass, Dec. 1.—On the shore of Plymouth Ray, where “the breaking waves dashed bieh” when the Pilgrims set foot on Pty- mouth Rock on December %, 1620, their descendants joined with other diftinguished men of thin generation in America, Great Britain and Hol- Jand in observing to-day with dus adlemnity the terrentenary of thetr landing. ‘The orator was Senator Henry Cabot Lodge. Daniel Webster delivered the famous “Plymouth Ora- tion” at the two hundredth annivers- ary. ‘The official party, in addition to thie epeakers of the day, included official representatives of Great Britain and Holland, several New England Gov- ¢rnors, members of the New England Judiciary, Senator Oscar W. Under- wood of Alabama, and members of Patriotic societies, including the 6o- ciety of Mayflower Descendants, The presiding officer was Louis K. Lig- gett of Boston, Chairman of the Massachusetts Pilgrim Torcentenary Commission. An address was delivered by Gov. Calvin Coolidge and a poem, “1620- 1920” was read by Dean LeBaron R. Briggs of the faculty of Arts and Bctences of Harvard University. Hymns appropriate to the oocasion ‘wore sung, including the “Landing of the Pilgrims” by Mrs. Felicia Hemans.
