Since that time there has been no news. I first appealed to the War De- partment in December, 1918, and I have not stopped asking them. All I have learned so far is that after the August gassing my brother reported back to his com- pany on Aug. 17, 1918. His last letter was written on the follow- ing day. Every letter 1 have written to my brother gince that time has come back to me. I have inquired of the Red Cros, the Adjutant General, and as many of the boys 1918, It is now more than a year and a half since his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mortolloro, have had any news. They are heartbroken. When bis organization was de- mobilized last spring, Sam was not listed among those who came back.
