lll 2HURLED TO DEATH “FROM FLYING AUTO Yonkers Politicians Returning From Sheriff's Party Are Victims of Accident. Joseph F. Grossman, forty, of No. 628 Park Avenue Extension, Yonkers, and his brother-in-law, James P. Moshier, forty, No. 195 Jessamine Ave-~ nue, Yonkers, the former a clerk and the other a superintendent in the Otis Elevator works, were killed at 1 A. M. to-day in an automobile accident in Yonkers. Both were well known Yon- kere politicians. Sheriff Nossiter of ‘Weatcheater County gave a dinner last night In ‘White Plains to the Sheriff's Emer- wency Force, which was organized for volunteer war work. Grossman and Mbshier were among the three automobile loads of Yonkers mem- vers who atended. ‘They were returning in an automo bile owned and driven by Ralph E. Condit of No. 410 Bellevue Avenue, Yonkers, Grossman and Moshier oc- cupied the rear seat and were the ‘only occupants except Condit. While the machine was travelling at a good rate of speed south in War- burton Avenue near Lamartine Ave- mue, Yonkers, a tire blew off and threw the car against the right-hand eurb, It bounded to the left side of the avenue and struck a light and a telephone pole with such violence that two wheels were torn off. Gross- ™an was huried from the machine and instantly killed, and Moshier was pinned under the machine, receiving injuries from which he died in St, John’s Riverside Hospital, Condit wap uninjured.
